Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Vocational Education Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for instructing special education students individually and in small groups, developing and implementing IEP goals, assessing students, and coordinating programs to increase independence and ability to function in society, socially, vocationally, and academically.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with local community colleges, universities, vocational schools, and community agencies to create pathways for students with disabilities.
  • Organize college fairs, campus tours, and information sessions to connect students with representatives from these institutions.
  • Schedule and host workshops and guest speaker events with professionals from various industries, local businesses, and community organizations to expose students to diverse career options.
  • Work closely with colleges and community agencies to bring their resources and services onto the high school campus.
  • Assist students in identifying career interests and potential job placements through assessments, internships, job shadowing, and work experience programs.
  • Collaborate with local businesses and community organizations to secure job opportunities and internships.
  • Guide students and families through the application processes for colleges, vocational programs, and scholarships.
  • Coordinate with Disability Services Offices at post-secondary institutions to facilitate a smooth transition for students with IEPs.
  • Continuously monitor the progress of students toward achieving their transition goals.
Requirements
  • Possession of a valid California Education Specialist Credential.
  • CLAD Certificate/English Learner authorization or equivalent is required.
Conditions of Employment

All employment offers are conditional, based upon the successful completion of the following: Fingerprint/background clearance, and a tuberculosis clearance. A physical examination clearance is required for certain positions for the district.
