Responsibilities
The role of a Specialty Medical Assistant is to act as a Navigator for an assigned Provider throughout the patient's healthcare journey in a high-acuity setting. This position is crucial due to the complex nature of the specialty, which includes assisting patients undergoing critical interventions and supporting the Providers responsible for their care. The Specialty Medical Assistant is tasked with enhancing the clinical experience both prior to and following the patient visit. This includes orienting patients to clinic protocols and preparing them for examinations and treatments. The position encompasses a variety of clinical responsibilities that necessitate advanced knowledge and the integration of standard care resources and data.
QualificationsMinimum Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Training Program. If hired prior to a specified date, MA will be grandfathered. A minimum of 3 years of experience in a high-acuity specialty environment, such as: Pulmonology, Oncology & Hematology, Infusion, Maternal & Fetal Medicine, Neonatology, Gynecologic Oncology, Neurosurgery, Breast Surgery, Pediatric Cardiology. BLS certification. Advanced proficiency in navigating medical record systems. Exceptional organizational and communication skills, along with demonstrated clinical expertise to support work in a specialty with elevated risks of adverse events. Preferred
