Job Summary:

The incumbent in this position is a senior clinician responsible for planning and implementing specific treatment programs for individual patients according to the principles and practices of Speech Language Pathology. This role requires collaboration with an interdisciplinary treatment team and promoting best practice through active collaboration and knowledge of evidence-based practices.

Responsibilities:
  1. Provide direct Speech Language Pathology services to patients in accordance with standards of practice, selecting reliable and valid assessment tools, and demonstrating progression of treatment plans.
  2. Serve as a preceptor and mentor for new staff therapists, students, and rehabilitation aides, training in specialized assessment tools and advanced treatment techniques.
  3. Assist in developing, interpreting, and reviewing policies and procedures of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department, demonstrating active participation in quality assessment and improvement strategies.
  4. Meet physical and non-physical demands as outlined in the job description.
  5. Assume other duties and responsibilities as appropriate to the position and area.
Requirements:
  1. At least 3 years of previous Speech Language Pathology experience required.
  2. Acute care experience within a hospital setting preferred.
  3. Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  4. Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience preferred.
  5. License to practice Speech Language in the state of Texas required.
  6. Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA required.
  7. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course through the American Heart Association required.
