Emergency Care Technician

Position Overview
Under the guidance of a licensed registered nurse, the Emergency Care Technician plays a crucial role in delivering patient care within the Emergency Department. This position involves performing various patient care tasks as assigned, ensuring the comfort and safety of patients during their treatment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with essential bedside nursing activities, including patient mobility, hygiene needs, and bed maintenance.
- Manage patient belongings by properly bagging and labeling items, while accurately documenting property records for all admitted individuals.
- Execute advanced patient care tasks as directed by the supervising registered nurse, adhering to established competencies and departmental protocols. This includes:
- Initiating saline locks
- Performing simple suture removals (excluding complex cases)
- Applying splints
- Conducting phlebotomy (for patients over the age of 2)
- Measuring vital signs
- Recording intake and output
- Applying restraints when necessary.

Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- A minimum of six months of relevant experience as a nursing assistant, paramedic, EMT, or urgent care provider is preferred.
- Nursing students (preferably those who have completed a Medical Surgical rotation) or graduates of EMT/Paramedic programs are encouraged to apply.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
- Successful completion of competencies as outlined by the Emergency Department Leadership and Education Specialist is required.
- An EMT license is preferred.
- Basic computer proficiency is necessary.
Work Environment
