JOB TITLE :
Medical Imaging Specialist

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :


Conducts fluoroscopic examinations for patients across all age demographics, adhering to established professional radiology standards.

Responsible for all aspects of imaging patient care, including file management, clerical tasks, physician support, and other duties essential for optimal patient outcomes in the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC).

Takes charge of ordering materials, supplies, and instruments as needed, serving as a backup to the Materials Manager.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as required by the Center.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED :
Reports to the Director of Nursing.

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE :
Under supervision, may instruct and prepare patients for radiologic procedures utilizing C-Arms in an operating room environment.

Assess the most appropriate anatomical positions and apply radiation shielding as necessary.

Position patients accurately to ensure the correct anatomical areas are imaged.


Operate both stationary and portable radiologic equipment to capture x-ray images of various body parts for the attending physician or surgeon.

Assist with fluoroscopic procedures; under guidance, capture clinical images of unique cases and document findings.

Maintain imaging equipment and work areas.

Monitor patients throughout the imaging process.


Utilize radiation protection devices, such as lead shields, to minimize unnecessary exposure.

Maintain accurate records and documentation.

Generate reports as required and perform related tasks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED :


Familiarity with contemporary radiologic equipment, particularly C-Arms, and imaging techniques; understanding of human anatomy; knowledge of standardized radiologic procedures; comprehensive awareness of the risks associated with radiologic materials and necessary safety measures; proficiency in operating and maintaining modern radiologic devices; and managing inventory of supplies.


Effective communication skills for successful job performance; ability to provide emergency care for shock; maintain patient records in C-Arm, produce relevant images for surgical procedures, and affix patient identifiers; ability to compile reports; follow instructions; assess situations accurately and take appropriate actions; and foster cooperative working relationships.


EDUCATION :
(includes any required licenses or certifications)

High school diploma or equivalent.


Must possess a current valid certification as a Radiologic Technologist in diagnostic radiologic technology issued by the relevant state health department.

Experience, including training in radiologic techniques under the supervision of an accredited medical radiologist, with proficiency in using a C-Arm in an ASC.


Successful completion of a two-year radiologic technology training program accredited by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association, in collaboration with the American College of Radiology.

COMPUTER SKILLS :
Proficient in email systems such as Microsoft Outlook for communication with internal and external stakeholders.


Familiarity with Word and Excel to create basic documents like memos and reports, enter data, and print results.

Knowledge of HST-P and ENVI ordering systems is a plus.
