They play a crucial role in accurately gathering and evaluating data on our residents to ensure that essential components are documented in the MDS and submitted to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Key Responsibilities- Oversee and direct the completion of resident assessments and coordinate the care planning process in accordance with Federal and State regulations for our adult and geriatric populations.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all residents' medical records.
- Manage the MDS completion process to comply with HCFA and Medicare guidelines.
- Facilitate the electronic submission of MDS in accordance with State regulations.
- Participate in family and resident care plan meetings.
- Collaborate with other departments regarding medical record documentation.
- Educate nursing staff on documentation requirements for reimbursement purposes.
- Lead interdisciplinary team meetings, ensuring thorough quality assurance and compliance with PPS.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program and hold a valid RN or LPN license in good standing according to Maryland State and Federal regulations.
- Extensive training and experience with MDS 3.0 software is required.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience as an MDS/PPS Coordinator is essential.
- Progressive nursing experience, preferably in a resident assessment context, is preferred.
- Strong managerial and interpersonal skills are necessary.
- Effective communication skills with team members are required.
- In-depth knowledge of PDPM and CMI as they relate to Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements is essential.
- Must demonstrate patience, a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and a willingness to engage with residents.
- Current CPR certification is required.
