Job Summary

As a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner, you will work directly with Intensivists to provide care to a specific patient population within the guidelines of written protocols. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing patients by performing medical history and physical examination, including medical, nursing, functional, and financial conditions.
  • Ordering appropriate laboratory tests, x-rays, EKGs, and diagnostic procedures based on assessment and follow-up as needed.
  • Writing prescriptions and orders under jointly developed protocols and practice guidelines.
  • Managing care in collaboration with physicians and other clinical personnel.
  • Providing consultation to colleagues and allied personnel.
  • Rounding on inpatients based on directions from the attending physician and documenting patient history, physical exam, and plans of care.
  • Performing specific invasive procedures within the scope of advanced practice nursing.
  • Evaluating the quality of care provided and identifying opportunities for improvements in patient care and clinical operations.
  • Participating in research projects, papers, or other publications.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's Degree in Nursing or a Nurse Practitioner Degree Emphasis or Program Certificate equivalent.
  • 3 years of previous nursing experience in a critical care area such as ICU, CCU, with some NP experience preferred but physicians will provide additional training.
  • NURSE PRACTITIONER - NLNP certification, South Carolina Official Recognition Nurse Practitioner, Prescriptive Authority South Carolina Nursing License, South Carolina Controlled Substance license, and Federal DEA license.
