About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Custodian at The Learning Lamp. As a Custodian, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our school facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Sanitizing: Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors regularly, clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, offices, and common areas.
  • Trash Removal: Empty waste receptacles and dispose of trash, sort and recycle materials according to school policies.
  • Surface Maintenance: Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and surfaces, clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces.
  • Floor Care: Strip, wax, and buff floors as needed, shampoo carpets and rugs.
  • Restocking Supplies: Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and toiletries, inform supervisors of any supply needs or equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintenance Tasks: Report maintenance issues, damages, and needed repairs promptly, perform minor maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs and fixing minor plumbing issues.
  • Event Support: Assist with set-up and clean-up for special events, meetings, and activities, arrange furniture and equipment as needed.
  • Safety and Security: Monitor and report safety hazards and security concerns, ensure that exits are clear and accessible.
  • Seasonal Duties: Perform seasonal tasks, such as snow removal and salting during winter, assist with landscaping duties during warmer months.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with other custodial staff to ensure comprehensive coverage, communicate effectively with school staff and administrators.
  • Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, follow school policies and procedures related to custodial tasks.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Willingness to go through and pass the required clearances and training to ensure the safety and security of our children, including mandated reporter training, a physical, and TB test.
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques, products, and equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
