Job Summary

The Tax Director will play a pivotal role in managing all aspects of the company's tax strategy and compliance. This role is responsible for ensuring that our tax obligations are met efficiently and accurately. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax planning and compliance, with experience in the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement tax strategies that optimize the company's tax position while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Oversee all aspects of tax planning, including strategic tax planning initiatives for the company and ownership group.
  • Manage the preparation and filing of all federal, state, and local tax returns for the company and ownership group, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Conduct regular reviews of tax provisions and financial statements to identify opportunities for tax savings and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Monitor and adapt to changes in tax laws and regulations that may affect the company and advise leadership on potential impacts and opportunities.
  • Build and maintain direct relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory agencies to facilitate compliance and minimize tax risks.
  • Guide and support other departments on tax-related matters, including financial reporting, project development/budgeting, strategic planning, and emerging tax credits and incentives.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or any combination of education and professional experience that would meet the responsibilities listed above.
  • Master's degree in Taxation or CPA designation preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in tax planning and compliance within the construction industry, preferably in a corporate tax department or national public accounting firm.
  • Strong and demonstratable knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations, with experience in construction industry taxation preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex tax issues and develop creative solutions.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex tax concepts to non-tax professionals.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt quickly to changing business needs.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and relevant tax preparation and research software.
  • Ability to understand and operate within an enterprise resource planning software.
