POSITION OVERVIEW

NOV is on the lookout for a dedicated and enthusiastic Junior Metal Fabrication Specialist to become a part of our Engineering division.

In this role, you will engage in machine fabrication and repair tasks that are of moderate to advanced complexity, ensuring that production workflows, shop activities, and utilities operate efficiently while adhering to all Quality and Safety standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Construct intricate custom production machinery based on specifications, samples, or verbal directives.
  • Assemble, fabricate, and sustain testing apparatus and assist in the preparation of test specimens.
  • Perform MIG, TIG, and stick welding, with the capability to pass a welding assessment. Certification is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Interpret blueprints and develop jigs and fixtures for welding tasks.
  • Build and install new machinery.
  • Follow the Preventative Maintenance Program to maintain equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment issues and determine the root cause of problems.
  • Install machinery, including basic anchoring, rigging, conduit, plumbing, and electrical tasks.
  • Keep the workspace clean and organized.
  • Practice safe working habits.
  • Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Adhere to all company policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Follow Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Comply with all Quality policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Work on designated projects.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Some familiarity with manual lathes and mills is preferred.
  • Experience with MIG and stick welding is advantageous.
  • Basic knowledge of reading dial indicators and calipers is desired.
  • Experience with overhead cranes is a plus.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Understanding of welding techniques.
  • Familiarity with mechanical schematics.
  • Ability to interpret pressure gauges.
  • Capability to read blueprints, drawings, and assembly instructions.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools safely and effectively.
  • Skill in utilizing measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and grinders.
  • Experience with MIG, TIG, and stick welding equipment setup for various materials.
  • Ability to operate bandsaws, plasma torches, and oxyacetylene cutting tools.
  • Competence in operating forklifts, scissor lifts, manlifts, and overhead cranes.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Capacity to perform physical tasks in a non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, push, and pull for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift weights up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
  • Willingness to work overtime and flexible shifts as needed.
  • Commitment to utilizing safe work practices and safety equipment.
