Job Title: Safety Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Safety Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our team members while working in the field. This role requires a high level of responsibility, responsiveness, and proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Compliance: Stay up-to-date with OSHA/MSHA regulatory requirements and ensure our team is in compliance.
  • Site Inspections: Conduct daily site inspections to identify hazards, risks, and potential safety issues.
  • Risk Mitigation: Develop effective strategies to mitigate risks as they arise in the field.
  • Training and Coaching: Coach and train team members on safe operations and conduct training sessions as needed.
  • Incident Response: Provide immediate on-scene assistance and management in the event of an incident.
  • Customer Relations: Establish a strong working relationship with our customers and on-site personnel.
  • Administrative Duties: Complete daily administrative duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Education: Associate degree in health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field. Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Safety is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years' work experience with responsibilities in EHS compliance, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Skills: Familiarity with Industrial Construction activities, knowledge of OSHA/MSHA regulations, strong written and verbal communication skills, self-starter, detail-oriented, and ability to hold others accountable.

Work Environment:

The working environment is often in harsh elements, and the role requires the ability to safely perform essential duties without risking harm to oneself or others.

Physical Requirements:

Talk/Hear: Communicate effectively with team members and detect sound variations in pitch and loudness. Stand/Sit: Respond quickly to signals. Walk: Frequent walking within the production facility and field. Use Hands/Fingers to Handle or Feel: Frequently handle materials and objects. Quick hand/arm movements to grasp/manipulate objects. Precise, coordinated finger movements. Stoop, Kneel, Crouch, or Crawl: Routine physical activities requiring arm/leg movement, including lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and occasional climbing. Bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, or legs. See: See details up close and at a distance. Judge distances. Detect differences in colors, shades, and brightness. Carry, Weight, Lift: Lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 pounds. Support body with abdominal/lower back muscles over time without fatigue.

Additional Requirements:

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Mid-State participates in E-Verify.
