Work Schedule: 80 hours biweekly with on-call and shift rotation

Role Summary

This position entails working closely with the Operating Room Manager in a designated specialty area to oversee and deliver perioperative nursing care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as a clinical authority and resource for specific surgical subspecialties while performing scrubbing and/or circulating duties in the operating room.
  • Managing the provision of cost-efficient and safe patient care while adhering to budgetary constraints and overseeing inventory control for supplies and equipment.
  • Creating, assessing, and/or modifying systems and processes for the acquisition, maintenance, trial, tracking, and utilization of supplies and equipment in collaboration with OR management and perioperative business personnel.
  • Functioning as a charge RN when required.
  • Contributing to the development of service-specific competencies, orientation programs, and ongoing education initiatives.
  • Ensuring adherence to departmental protocols including radiation safety, fire safety, disaster preparedness, infection control, and compliance with external accreditation and regulatory standards.
  • Supporting the OR charge nurse with daily staffing assignments and ensuring adequate coverage for designated surgical specialties. Assisting in directing nursing staff and surgical technicians to complete departmental projects. Reviewing surgical schedules in advance to anticipate necessary supplies, equipment, and prosthetics.

Qualifications

Required

  • Active RN licensure
  • At least 2 years of experience in perioperative nursing
  • CPR certification from the American Heart Association
  • Clearance certificates for Act 34 Criminal Background, Act 33 Child Abuse, and Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting

Preferred

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred
