POSITION OBJECTIVE

The primary objective of this role is to execute semi-skilled tasks related to extensive cleaning, including mopping, scrubbing, stripping, and refinishing, alongside other designated responsibilities. This position is crucial for ensuring the cleanliness, organization, aesthetic appeal, and safety of the premises and surrounding areas through diligent upkeep and maintenance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Facilities Serviceperson and Grounds Maintenance personnel are tasked with the following key responsibilities:

  • Maintain cleanliness in all designated areas within and outside the educational facility.
  • Execute scheduled tasks in accordance with established custodial standards.
  • Sanitize and restock restroom facilities, including sinks, toilets, and showers.
  • Manage waste disposal by emptying trash containers from various locations and ensuring proper disposal.
  • Perform landscaping duties such as mowing lawns and trimming vegetation using appropriate tools.
  • Replace and clean light fixtures, wash windows, and conduct minor repairs as necessary.
  • Utilize heavy machinery for cleaning floors, walls, and other surfaces.
  • Dust and polish furniture and perform minor maintenance tasks as required.
  • Collect and dispose of litter from outdoor areas.
  • Assist in planting and maintaining flora as directed.
  • Ensure equipment is well-maintained through regular cleaning and servicing.
  • Communicate supply needs to supervisors and report any maintenance issues.
  • Adhere to safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment.
  • Document time and materials used for various projects accurately.
  • Engage in activities that comply with equal employment and non-discrimination policies.
  • Participate in skill enhancement training programs related to job duties.
  • Stay informed on industry developments and best practices.
  • Follow safety regulations and procedures diligently.
  • Comply with relevant laws and organizational policies.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in custodial services and related trades, including lawn care and sprinkler maintenance.
  • Ability to complete the Basic Facilities Service training program and obtain certification during the probationary period.
  • Proficiency in operating cleaning and maintenance equipment.
  • Capability to perform heavy lifting and climb ladders.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Basic computer skills as necessary for the role.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED certification.
  • Bilingual communication skills.
