The Radiologic Technician & Medical Support Specialist is responsible for conducting routine x-ray and medical testing procedures under the direct supervision of the attending clinician, while also providing support in various areas of the facility as required, including patient registration and referral management.

This role involves performing standard X-ray examinations in compliance with Concentra's policies, procedures, and relevant regulations. The position demands efficient and precise delivery of individualized patient care in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Radiologic Technician Duties

1. Prepare patients for radiologic procedures.

2. Escort patients to dressing and x-ray rooms, provide verbal and/or written instructions, and assist patients in positioning body parts for radiography.

3. Explain procedures and monitor patients to ensure their care, safety, and comfort during the x-ray examination.

4. Operate radiologic equipment to capture diagnostic images of the body. Position equipment and adjust controls to set exposure time and distance according to examination specifications. Conduct x-rays in accordance with established radiologic standards and regulations to ensure patient safety.

5. Implement radiation safety measures and protective devices to safeguard patients and team members.

6. Ensure the functionality of radiologic equipment and report any malfunctions to the Center Operations Director.

7. Adhere to all Radiology workflows and ensure accurate documentation in the EMR.

8. Maintain all x-ray equipment, including calibration, QA/QC procedures, and record-keeping in line with current policies and procedures.

Medical Support Specialist Duties

1. Conduct Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing.

2. Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and conducting necessary ancillary testing such as vaccines, injections, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiogram testing, and respirator fit testing.

3. Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.).

4. Assist clinicians during examinations and treatments.

5. Execute routine medical procedures as directed by the treating clinician and triage urgent patients as necessary.

6. Prepare and assist clinicians with procedure setups and injury care.

7. Apply bandages, dressings, and splints as instructed by the treating clinician.

8. Dispense medications and durable medical equipment as ordered by the treating clinician, adhering to state regulations.

9. Conduct quality assurance activities on equipment and medical devices, as well as testing processes utilized in the center.

10. Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock examination rooms.

11. Operate all medical devices and equipment, ensuring calibration and record-keeping in accordance with current policies and procedures.

12. Notify supervisors immediately if equipment malfunctions, supplies are needed, or facility operations are not as expected.

13. Collaborate with center leadership to assist with patient flow and volume management.

14. Keep patients informed of expected wait times throughout their visit.

15. Perform clerical tasks in both front and back office settings related to patient care and accurate record-keeping.

16. Ensure precision in documentation.

Front Office Duties:
1. Greet patients, obtain authorizations, check in/out, communicate wait times, answer multi-line telephone systems, and distribute employer results/paperwork as necessary.

2. Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and safety protocols.

3. Attend center staff meetings or huddles as required.

4. Assist in maintaining a neat, clean, and orderly facility appearance.

5. Complete any required training, including clinical competency training that occurs monthly.

Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Certifications and Licenses:
1. Completion of a state-approved Limited Scope Technician certificate program and licensure by the state of employment, if applicable.

2. CPR/First Aid Certification.

Job-Related Experience:
1. Typically requires at least six months of medical assistant experience with knowledge of medical procedures and terminology.

2. Typically requires at least six months of demonstrated experience in X-Ray and familiarity with routine medical procedures.

3. Preferred working knowledge of occupational medicine requirements (state-specific) along with prior experience in medical office, healthcare, and/or customer service settings.

7. Must participate in initial and ongoing training as required.

8. Obtain all necessary certifications required of Medical Support Specialists, including but not limited to Drug Screen Collection, Breath Alcohol Certification, Hair, and Oral Fluids Collection.

9. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and data entry into various systems/applications.
