Position Overview
The Pediatric Imaging Specialist is responsible for operating diagnostic imaging equipment to capture images of specific areas of the body as requested by healthcare providers. This role involves positioning and guiding patients for radiological or fluoroscopic assessments, adjusting imaging devices, and determining the appropriate settings for each image. The specialist may also prepare patients for imaging procedures by administering contrast agents as needed. Focused on providing care for infants, children, and adolescents, the technologist must also be equipped to assist adult patients when necessary. All imaging personnel are expected to address patient and family inquiries to promote a Family-Centered Care approach.
Compensation
Minimum $36.87 Midpoint $48.86 Maximum $60.84
Experience Requirements
• Required: No prior experience necessary.
• Preferred: Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in an acute care pediatric setting.
Educational Background
• Required: Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
Training Requirements
• Required: No additional training required.
Essential Skills
• Required: Strong ability to communicate positively and professionally with others; maintain composure and courtesy under pressure; collaborate effectively and accept guidance. Proficient in English communication, both verbal and written; capable of critical thinking; adept at managing multiple tasks; organized and able to prioritize workload; skilled in problem-solving; attentive to detail.
Licensure Requirements
• Required: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Radiography (ARRT-R); Basic Life Support (BLS); California Radiologic Technologist Certification; California Fluoroscopy Certification - to be obtained within six (6) months of employment or transfer.
• Preferred: Certification in Venipuncture.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This position requires a sedentary to very light energy level with the ability to lift 10 lbs. overhead, carry 15 lbs., and push/pull a 20 lbs. cart.
Physical Activity Requirements:
Involves bending, carrying objects, climbing, repetitive keyboard use, fine motor activities, pushing/pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, and walking.
Sensory Requirements:
Color discrimination, depth perception, far and near vision, and hearing are essential.
Environmental Hazards:
Exposure to airborne communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, dust, extreme noise levels, extreme temperatures, radiation, and uneven surfaces.
