Job Overview

Laradon is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Counselor to support the Calabrese Youth Center (CYC) program. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing life skills training and support to children and youth living in our Youth Center program.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement daily activity schedules to promote engagement and skill-building.
  • Supervise and assist with medication administration, ensuring the health and safety of our residents.
  • Train and assist residents in various life skills, including shopping, cleaning, money management, and personal hygiene.
  • Provide direct counseling and training services to residents, promoting emotional well-being and independence.
  • Oversee the health and welfare of residents, reporting concerns and progress to the Program Manager.
  • Facilitate groups on various topics, including anger management, self-esteem, and social skills.
  • Provide 24-hour supervision to residents, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment, adhering to licensing agency regulations.
  • Attend Youth Center staff meetings, contributing to a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Implement behavior programs, promoting positive behavior and skill development.
  • Assist with recreational activities, fostering a sense of community and fun.
  • Perform monthly safety and fire drills, ensuring preparedness and compliance.
  • Perform Safety Care techniques as needed, prioritizing resident safety and well-being.
  • Train residents in the use of community resources, promoting independence and self-sufficiency.
  • Execute duties according to rules and regulations of licensing agencies.
  • Drive participants as necessary for program needs, ensuring safe and reliable transportation.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance, adhering to Laradon's attendance policies.
  • Document resident progress and program activities, as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, supporting the overall mission and goals of Laradon.

Requirements
  • Valid driving license, good driving record, and reliable transportation, preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children and youth, staff, and parents.
  • Two years of college education or high school diploma plus one year of experience in the human services field.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force, physical condition to enable walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and stamina to be on feet and active for full work days.
