Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Carpenter Foreman to join our team at Wayne County Government. As a key member of our construction operations, you will be responsible for managing and supervising carpentry staff, ensuring the successful completion of projects within budget and timeline.

About the Role

This is a 2nd shift position working from 3:00PM - 11:30PM. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in carpentry, with at least 10 years of experience as a Journeyman Foreman and 5 years of experience as a Commercial Carpenter in the last 8 years. A valid State of Michigan Operator's License and completion of the Carpenter Apprenticeship Program are also required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise carpentry staff to ensure project completion on time and within budget.
  • Conduct health and safety inspections and ensure compliance with building codes.
  • Provide technical expertise and training to new employees.
  • Plan and issue work schedules, discipline procedures, and complete daily time sheets and overtime records.
  • Order materials and distribute supplies and equipment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field (e.g., construction management, engineering).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Journeyman Foreman and 5 years of experience as a Commercial Carpenter in the last 8 years.
  • Valid State of Michigan Operator's License and completion of the Carpenter Apprenticeship Program.
Estimated Salary

$85,000 - $115,000 per year, depending on experience.
