Electrical Systems Specialist

As an Electrical Systems Specialist, you'll play a critical role in helping us achieve our mission. Your responsibilities will include performing assignments that require judgment in evaluating, selecting, and modifying electrical engineering techniques and procedures. You'll work directly with owners to develop recommendations, review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines, and write/edit electrical specifications, select equipment, and electrical devices. You'll also take on contract administration responsibilities, requiring field inspections and conflict resolution, and make decisions on significant design and engineering features as needed. Additionally, you may function as a Project Manager on small and mid-size projects as needed, but project management is not the principal focus of this position. You'll supervise the work of Electrical CAD Technicians and coordinate design of assigned projects with architectural staff and other engineering disciplines as needed. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

A Master's degree in electrical engineering or architectural engineering with an Electrical emphasis is preferred. Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is also preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Coordinator" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression. Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm is also preferred. 2+ years' experience designing electrical lighting, power, and systems for building projects; EIT is also preferred. Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED is desired but not required.

Required Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis is required. A desire to pursue growth opportunities and obtain registration is also required. Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI, and Easy Power are required. An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
