Position Overview: The Installation Technician plays a crucial role in executing a variety of installation tasks on technology projects for our clientele.
This position is pivotal in the field, responsible for the majority of the hands-on work conducted within client facilities.
The technician must collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, and others to fully grasp their responsibilities on specific assignments.
They interpret technical drawings to establish the foundation of the completed systems, which may encompass displays, projectors, audio systems, and more. Additionally, they will mentor Associate Installation Technicians as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct physical installation of diverse technology across various locations.
- Perform a wide range of cabling terminations for all wire and connector types, ensuring the ability to test completed terminations.
- Assist in preparing equipment racks for staging, including the installation of power strips and grounding bars.
- Read and comprehend functional design drawings, cable riser diagrams, and architectural blueprints.
- Support the mounting of essential equipment such as monitor mounts and ceiling speakers.
- Deliver consistent technical performance while maintaining flexibility in work schedules, including potential overtime to meet project deadlines.
- Provide daily updates to Project Managers or Site Supervisors.
- Handle fiber optic cables, including installation, termination, and testing.
- Manage and maintain tools, company vehicles, and installation materials, ensuring organization and cleanliness.
- Keep accurate records of time spent on projects for timesheet and reporting purposes.
This technician level is expected to perform tasks at client job sites with minimal supervision. On smaller projects, they may coordinate with clients and subcontractors.
Physical Requirements: The role requires the ability to occasionally climb ladders, navigate stairs, and lift or move materials weighing up to 40 pounds in construction environments.
While not on-site, the technician will work in standard office conditions, utilizing office equipment such as computers and peripherals.
Travel Requirements: Frequent travel by car and occasional air travel is necessary. Local travel to job sites typically constitutes 70-90% of the role, with remote travel potentially reaching 30% at times.
Regular remote travel is also expected.
Qualifications:
- Understanding of access control and CCTV systems, with the ability to install and troubleshoot related equipment.
- Familiarity with a broad range of audio, video, and networking technologies.
- Knowledge of low voltage electrical principles.
- Basic carpentry and installation skills are advantageous.
