About the Role:

The Psychiatrist will provide direct patient care within the psychiatric scope of practice, diagnosing, treating, and managing mental health conditions. This includes prescribing psychiatric medications, conducting telepsychiatry consultations, and performing psychotherapy and supportive treatments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mental health, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of mental health conditions.
  • Prescribe psychiatric medications and monitor for side effects.
  • Conduct telepsychiatry consultations using electronic medical records and video conferencing tools.
  • Perform psychotherapy and supportive treatments, including cognitive behavioral therapy and somatic therapies.
  • Monitor and document treatment progress, adjusting care plans as necessary.
  • Participate in performance improvement programs to ensure quality and appropriateness of care.
  • Act as a mental health consultant to medical staff, providing oversight and direction related to mental health care.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Complete and pass all competency tests, training, and certifications required by the facility.

Requirements:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited U.S. institution, or an equivalent degree from a foreign medical school accredited by NCFMEA and ECFMG for foreign graduates.
  • Minimum one year of experience as a licensed psychiatrist.
  • Full and unrestricted medical license in the state of Louisiana.
  • Must be board certified/board eligible by the ABPN.
  • Must have current ACLS and BLS certification or equivalent.
