We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Animal Care Attendant to join our team at the City of Lincoln Park Animal Shelter. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of the animals in our care.
Responsibilities- Provide exceptional care and attention to the animals, including feeding, watering, walking, and monitoring their health.
- Assist with adoptions, reclaims, and other animal-related services.
- Perform daily cleaning and disinfection of kennels, cages, and animal shelter areas.
- Administer medication to animals as prescribed by animal control officers or veterinarians.
- Perform data entry, generate reports, and maintain accurate records of cash, receipts, and disbursements.
- Maintain logs for pet wish lists and lost and found pets.
- Inventory and manage shelter supplies and equipment.
- Apply knowledge and skills in controlling and handling individual animal temperaments.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six months training and experience in animal care.
- Valid Michigan Driver License.
- Excellent computer skills, oral and written communication skills, and ability to work independently.
- Must have a genuine liking for animals and concern for their welfare.
The City of Lincoln Park Animal Shelter is a fast-paced environment with multiple interruptions due to calls and inquiries. You will be working with upset citizens and vicious animals, and will be exposed to unpleasant odors and noises. You must be able to work in a team environment and maintain a professional demeanor in a challenging work setting.
