Job Overview

Position Title: Project Manager 1 (Hybrid)

Contract Duration: 1 year with potential for extension

Role Description:

The Project Manager will be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the project management field. This role will rely on experience and judgment to plan and achieve project goals. A degree of creativity and independence is necessary. The Project Manager may work under the guidance of a Senior Project or Program Manager, assisting with larger, more complex projects.

This position supports various departments, including Labor & Economic Opportunity, Michigan State Housing Development Corporation, and Unemployment Insurance Agency, as well as the Attorney General's office. Project assignments may vary based on demand.

The Project Manager will design, plan, and coordinate work teams, adhering to standard project management practices such as the PMI framework. Responsibilities include:

  • Understanding business and technical objectives of projects
  • Creating project charters and work plans
  • Tracking budget and schedule progress
  • Establishing project organization and methodologies
  • Documenting risks and developing mitigation strategies
  • Managing project scope and communication plans
  • Building effective teams and assigning tasks
  • Identifying and resolving issues

The Project Manager will also provide technical support to team members and oversee complex application features and designs. This role involves managing a group of application system analysts and ensuring project performance aligns with objectives.

Strong organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential for success in this role.
