Position Purpose:

As a crucial component of the food supply chain, our delivery drivers ensure that products reach their destinations safely and on time, while also representing our company and fostering strong relationships with our clients.

Main Responsibilities:

The Hourly Driver is tasked with operating a tractor-trailer on local intrastate and interstate routes to deliver and/or unload food and related products in a safe and timely manner, adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
Engages professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues, ensuring accurate and timely communication.
Acts as a collaborative team member within the department and organization, performing any assigned duties to best serve the company.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Conducting all necessary safety inspections (i.e., pre/post trip) of the tractor/truck and trailer in compliance with DOT regulations; ensuring all vehicles meet company safety standards and taking appropriate actions as necessary.
  • Reporting any safety concerns or required repairs.
  • Adhering to all DOT regulations and company safe driving policies, promptly reporting any safety hazards. Inspecting trailers to ensure proper loading and securing of freight.
  • Performing item count checks and verifying customer invoices for loaded products.
  • Completing all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly.
  • Positioning the tractor at the loading dock and attaching preloaded trailers as necessary.
  • Loading customer returns onto the trailer and securing trailer doors.
  • Ensuring that the tractor, trailer, and freight are always secured and locked.
  • Unloading damaged goods and customer returns, completing necessary paperwork.
  • Removing all equipment, materials, and trash from trailers as required.
  • Maintaining a daily record of hours of service and logging in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company regulations.
  • Performing general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and keeping trailers clean and organized as required.
  • At the end of the shift, securing all equipment and completing all necessary documentation.
  • Carrying out other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 6 months of commercial driving experience.
  • Valid CDL-A license.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Compliance with all state licensing and certification requirements (where applicable).
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
  • Successful completion of post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
  • Passing of road test.
  • Possession of a valid current DOT Health Card or ability to obtain one.
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move and stack product cases/freight of varying sizes and weights throughout the shift; typical product weight ranges from 10-35 pounds and up to 60-90 pounds, depending on location.
