The Role

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides care to patients with end-stage renal disease, supporting clinical staff throughout the dialysis treatment process. This role is an integral part of the interdisciplinary team, ensuring safe care and high-quality outcomes for every patient.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in infection control, risk management, and patient education activities
  • Guide new patients through a comprehensive education plan
  • Obtain and record patient vital signs and machine readings during treatment
  • Work under RN supervision to ensure patient safety and well-being
  • Set up and break down dialysis blood systems for treatment
  • Insert and remove patient access needles
  • Monitor patients during dialysis, document changes, and inform charge nurses of any concerns
  • Calculate patient weight loss to reach dry weight
  • Determine patient care priorities and organize workload accordingly
  • Maintain professional working relationships, observing patient privacy and rights
  • Maintain and track inventory
  • Perform laboratory work
Qualifications

We seek candidates with excellent communication skills, a desire to collaborate with care teams, and the ability to problem-solve. A high school diploma or GED is required, and previous healthcare experience is preferred but not necessary.
