Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist to join our team at the Multnomah County Health Department. As a specialist, you will play a vital role in providing culturally relevant mental health services to young children and their families within the Latinx community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct mental health services to children and families, including assessment, diagnosis, crisis intervention, and coordination of care.
  • Deliver preventive mental health services, such as parenting classes and educational presentations, to children, families, caregivers, and community partners.
  • Offer mental health coordination, planning, and consultation to a variety of stakeholders, including Preschool for All staff, Child Care Resource and Referral staff, and community professionals.
  • Participate in individual and group supervision, attend professional trainings, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of our mental health services.

Requirements:

  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English is essential to effectively communicate with and serve the Latinx community.
  • Cultural competence to provide culturally sensitive and relevant mental health services.
  • Experience in providing mental health services to children (infants to age 6) and families, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • A genuine commitment to supporting the mental health and well-being of young children and their families within the Latinx community.
