Fairview Health Services is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac/Respiratory Intermediate Care Unit. This unit is dedicated to providing specialized care for patients experiencing moderate to severe physiological instability, necessitating frequent assessments and interventions.
As a Registered Nurse in this unit, you will be immersed in a dynamic environment where you will deliver culturally competent nursing care to high-acuity patients across diverse diagnoses and specialties.
The Cardiac/Respiratory IMC consists of 22 beds.
The nurse-to-patient ratio varies between 1:2 and 1:3 across all shifts.
Patients typically require cardiac monitoring and may need respiratory support, including mechanical ventilation.
Common patient demographics include post-operative transplant cases, acute and chronic respiratory failure, sepsis, end-stage organ failure, and various cardiac complications.

What to Expect:
Structured Learning:
Nurse residents will participate in a comprehensive curriculum, engaging in 8 hours of educational sessions every 2 months for a year. This curriculum covers essential skills such as time management, teamwork, communication, well-being, social determinants of health, and critical thinking, aiming to produce a confident and competent cohort.
Mentorship:
Throughout the program, residents will have multiple mentorship opportunities to receive guidance, support, and valuable insights.
Networking:
Residents will have the chance to connect with peers, build relationships, and collaborate on practical learning experiences.
Hands-On Experience:
The program includes practical clinical experiences, allowing nurses to apply their knowledge in real-world healthcare scenarios, including the innovative use of virtual reality for formative learning.
Responsibilities:
The Registered Nurse is accountable for delivering professional nursing care in accordance with established standards and practices within a busy, fast-paced Progressive ICU.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient populations.
The RN will perform these duties in alignment with all policies, procedures, professional practice guidelines, and the MN Nurse Practice Act, coordinating care with healthcare team members and delegating responsibilities as appropriate.
