About the Role

We are seeking an experienced System Safety Engineer to join our team at our Huntsville, AL facility. As a System Safety Engineer, you will play a critical role in analyzing hardware and software, establishing and maintaining system safety requirements, and ensuring mission success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and/or update Preliminary Hazard List (PHL), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Functional Hazard Analyses (FHAs), System Hazard Analyses (SHA), and Safety Assessment Reports (SAR)
  • Prepare presentations and participate in Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings, and various working groups and safety review meetings
  • Develop and/or update System Safety documents to support Customer, Range Safety, and contractual requirements
  • Review and provide input to test procedures for adherence to System Safety requirements
  • Coordinate with test range safety teams and writing range safety reports to support testing
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of a Hazard Tracking System (HTS) used to document real and potential hazards, their assessments, and their respective mitigation's

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in an engineering or related technical discipline
  • Knowledge of System Safety Standards
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of System Safety design and operations safety principles to include experience with one or all of the following: hazard identification, analysis, risk mitigation, safety requirements management, and associated deliverable documentation
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to engage and interact in group meeting/working environments with team members, development organizations, and customers
  • Active Secret Clearance: US Citizenship required
Desired Skills
  • Experience using MIL-STD-882E, DO-178C, SSMAN 91-710, or other relevant industry and/or range safety standards
  • Experience developing MSPSP, SAR, and/or other System Safety Assessment documentation
  • Software system safety experience
  • Experience participating in DoD System Safety Working Groups
  • Familiarity with MDA Programs
  • Familiarity with DOORs
  • Familiarity with MBSE
