Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Surgical Technician to join our team at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Plymouth. As a key member of our surgical services team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients by setting up and organizing surgical equipment and supplies.
  • Collaborate with the perioperative team to implement the care plan for patients undergoing surgical procedures.
  • Assist surgeons and other medical staff during surgical procedures, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
  • Participate in universal protocol and time out processes to ensure patient safety.
  • Initiate proper procedure for sponge, needle, and instrument counts, as well as specimen handling and disposal.
  • Ensure proper care and handling of medications on the sterile field.
  • Assist in prepping the operating room for the next patient and cleaning and preparing instruments for decontamination and sterilization.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communication skills to patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited program for Surgical Technologists.
  • Certified Operating Room Technician (CORT) or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
