Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join our team at Geisinger Health System. As a DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting our Information Technology staff in the installation, maintenance, implementation, and continuous usage of development tools, frameworks, and platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement new system software products, product updates, and new releases.
  • Maintain an inventory of products, current release level, and all updates or local modifications.
  • Inform appropriate personnel of new features, limitations, and considerations produced by upgrades or new products.
  • Assist in diagnosing system problems, and effecting recovery and restart.
  • Provide documentation on general system operating procedures.
  • Provide education and counsel to users and IT personnel on the use and understanding of systems software.
  • Serve as a liaison to vendor software support personnel as needed by IT personnel.
  • Determine, implement, and facilitate programs and procedures to analyze resource utilization and support planning activities.
  • Building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure.
  • Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes.
  • Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats.
  • Identifying technical problems and developing software updates and 'fixes'.
  • Working with software developers and software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and policies to work as intended.
  • Planning out projects and being involved in project management decisions.
  • Deploy updates and fixes.
  • Provide Level 2 technical support.
  • Build tools to reduce occurrences of errors and improve customer experience.
  • Perform root cause analysis for production errors.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues.
  • Improve automation and increase systems' self-healing capability.
  • Collect operating metrics and report performance to stakeholders.
  • Measure and optimize system performance.
  • Design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar software engineering role.
  • Proficient with CI/CD Concepts and Tools.
  • Working knowledge of Powershell Scripting.
  • Working knowledge of databases and SQL.
  • Working knowledge of Web Application Servers.
  • Problem-solving attitude.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps platform a plus.
  • Performance and Load Testing as well as Site Reliability Engineering.

Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)- (Required)
  • Minimum of 8 years-Relevant experience* (Required)

Certification(s) and License(s)

  • Valid Driver's License - Default Issuing Body
