Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled GIS Analyst to join our team at Nova Consulting. As a GIS Analyst, you will play a critical role in the planning, modeling, permitting, and design of various public infrastructure improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities- Create, manage, validate, edit, and maintain various types of GIS data, including spatial databases.
- Support enterprise GIS databases and services.
- Manage and coordinate GIS-focused tasks and initiatives.
- Perform QA/QC review of GIS data and compile metadata.
- Digitize, scan, and georeference maps, engineering drawings, and imagery.
- Develop tools and workflows to automate and streamline mapping, data management, and geoprocessing tasks.
- Work with project teams and clients to define data needs, project requirements, and required outputs for designing GIS products.
- Review scanned in records from construction sites and verify the information on those records in a GIS.
- Gather, analyze, and integrate spatial data and determine how the information can best be displayed using GIS.
- Work independently and under general supervision to complete project tasks, including map production, data management, data analysis, and similar tasks.
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, computer science, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years of relevant progressive experience in GIS and Civil 3D for water and sewer infrastructure projects.
- Proven work experience as a GIS technician.
- Understanding of integrated GPS and GIS principles.
- Manage and update GIS mapping system software.
- Analyze GIS, data, and mapping for engineering and environmental assignments while supporting both internal and external project teams.
- Develop and review GIS mapping and data collection tasks.
- Perform digital feature extraction from multiple data sources.
- Execute projections and transformations for project deliverables.
- Support GIS system needs and requirements to implement improved work methods.
- Create and update new and existing GIS maps and map layers and GPS data edition and representation using ArcMap in support of field surveys.
- Collect GPS data and post-processing for high-accuracy data specifications.
- Support GIS metadata creation.
- Design extensions and add-ins for GIS applications such as ESRI ArcGIS Online for in-house use.
- Perform land survey records search, ownership data research from various sources.
- Support georeferenced raster and vector data.
- Advanced computer programming and data analysis skills.
- Knowledge of modern cartographic standards and principles.
- Advanced statistical, mathematical, and methodology skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Proficiency in design software including AutoCAD and ArcView.
- Ability to complete work according to client specifications and requirements, ensuring that completed projects are accurately reflected in the GIS layer.
- Ability to communicate orally or in writing to obtain or provide information.
- Ability to assist clients and contractors with issues of compliance and other miscellaneous administrative and/or technical assignments as required by the assigned project.
- Knowledge of e-Builder software is preferred.
- Able to work at least 4 days each week in the office.
