Role Summary:
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for performing routine and specialized diagnostic imaging procedures as directed by physicians. This role includes:
  • Executing diagnostic imaging procedures with technical proficiency.
  • Maintaining quality control of imaging equipment and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Documenting patient histories and ensuring informed consent is obtained prior to procedures.
  • Administering radiopharmaceuticals safely and effectively, adhering to all regulatory guidelines.
  • Performing venipuncture and maintaining intravenous access as necessary.
  • Educating and mentoring new staff and student technologists.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct diagnostic imaging procedures utilizing advanced technology.
- Monitor and evaluate equipment performance, initiating corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Uphold radiation safety standards to minimize exposure to patients and staff.
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing education.

Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
Completion of an accredited educational program in Nuclear Medicine Technology.

Minimum Experience:
Successful completion of a competency checklist and training in radiopharmaceutical administration.

Licensure Requirement:
Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) is required within one year of employment.
