Position Overview:
The Pediatric Nursing Program Manager oversees the pediatric services within the organization. This role involves planning, organizing, and directing home health services while possessing extensive knowledge in pediatric nursing from infancy through adolescence, with a focus on community health education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Administrator and key personnel to develop a pediatric-specific orientation process.
- Work with the branch educator to identify skills for annual competency and in-service training tailored for pediatric care.
- Supervise pediatric staff and manage daily operations.
- Coordinate with clinical leadership to enhance staff effectiveness through educational programs.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on pediatric standards and regulations.
- Utilize evidence-based guidelines to advise on best practices for pediatric care.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Administrator.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients and families to identify home care needs.
- Regularly reassess patient nursing needs and adjust care plans accordingly.
- Develop and implement plans of care in collaboration with the patient's physician.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Provide counseling and health care instructions to patients and families.
- Identify discharge planning needs and implement them prior to patient discharge.
- Maintain knowledge of high-tech nursing skills and infection control procedures.
- Ensure compliance with ethical and legal guidelines regarding patient confidentiality.
- Document patient care and communicate effectively with healthcare providers.
- Participate in on-call duties as required.
- Coordinate care among involved parties in home and community settings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution; Master's preferred.
- Current active nursing license.
- Minimum of three years of pediatric care experience in acute or home care settings.
- Valid driver's license.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support for Health Care Professionals.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and nursing skills.
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation and communication.
