Job Overview:
The Office of Testing and Evaluation Services (OTES) plays a vital role in supporting the LSU campus by facilitating computer-based assessments in the LSU Testing Center for various academic evaluations, placement tests, and standardized examinations.
Additional services include the development and scoring of instructor course evaluations, tests, and surveys.The OTES operates approximately 450 computer stations across four testing center locations, impacting over 20,000 students and administering more than 200,000 tests annually (over three semesters).

Responsibilities:
As a proctor, you will oversee all examinations to guarantee equitable treatment for all individuals taking tests in the Testing Center. Your duties will include:
- Checking in students, which involves:
- Verifying identification and the test being administered
- Assigning seating and computer stations
- Distributing approved materials and confirming the use of calculators, if permitted.
- Addressing inquiries from test-takers regarding testing procedures.
- Ensuring strict adherence to testing guidelines by students.
- Maintaining confidentiality and security of all testing materials and related documents.
- Assisting in the preparation of the testing center for daily sessions.
- Conducting observational walkthroughs and monitoring test-takers through video surveillance.
- Ensuring that only approved materials are utilized during examinations.
- Following established protocols if test-takers request to leave the testing area (e.g., for restroom breaks), monitoring their stations until their return.
- Maintaining a quiet environment in the testing center, monitoring communication and noise levels.
- Verifying that test-takers have submitted their exams and checked out of the system.
- Collecting allowed documents once test-takers complete their exams.
Reporting any rule violations, unusual occurrences, or suspicious activities during tests to the Testing Center Manager is essential. Basic technical support may also be required.

- Proficiency in typing, basic computer skills, and familiarity with widely used software such as Microsoft WORD and EXCEL.
- Openness to learning necessary technical skills for operating software used for student check-ins and check-outs in a high-volume computer-based testing environment.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.- Capability to work well under pressure and manage time effectively while multitasking.
- Strong observational and organizational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Flexibility in scheduling for morning, afternoon, evening shifts, and some weekend availability.
- Physical stamina to remain on feet for approximately six hours per shift.
- On-the-job training will be provided.

Required Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years or older
- High school diploma or GED
- Availability of three references attesting to honesty, integrity, reliability, and punctuality (must have reliable transportation)
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year of experience in proctoring exams or familiarity with common examination practices and procedures.
Special Qualifications:
As with all LSU employees, this position entails an obligation to assist students in acquiring necessary services. Should a student require assistance with emotional, behavioral, or mental health issues, they should be referred to the appropriate services within the Student Health Center. In cases where a student appears to pose a danger to themselves or others, immediate contact with the Care Team, Dean of Students, or appropriate law enforcement is required.
This position involves responsibilities that require interaction with minors, necessitating a National Sex Offender Registry check.
