Job Summary

UPMC is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide high-quality care and support services to our residents. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct resident care as directed by the RN and LPN, including activities of daily living such as bathing, feeding, dressing, transporting, toileting, and ambulating residents.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment for residents, including completing safety checks, keeping the department and resident rooms clean and organized, and cleaning department-specific equipment.
  • Respond to resident needs and calls in a timely manner, and acquire and distribute supplies and equipment to facilitate resident care delivery.
  • Perform routine tests such as resident weights, vital signs, and Intake & Outputs, and provide feedback to the RN/LPN regarding resident care and report changes in resident status in a timely manner.
  • May apply, monitor, and remove resident restraints as per physician or facility protocol, and provide diversional activities to reduce or prevent the use of restraints.
  • Document in the medical record according to established procedures, and comply with safety policies and procedures, including standard precautions and policies and procedures for blood-borne pathogen exposure.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Knowledge of body mechanics and transfer techniques.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
  • Act 34.
  • OAPSA.
