About the Van Driver Role

First Student is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Van Driver to join our team. As a Van Driver, you will be responsible for transporting students to and from school, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive a regular route, following established schedules and itineraries.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, utilizing Zonar technology, including child checks.
  • Assist students in the loading and unloading process, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Cooperate and communicate with school personnel, parents, and students, providing a positive and professional experience.
  • Attend all safety and training meetings, staying up-to-date on the latest protocols and procedures.
  • Conduct emergency evacuations from the bus vehicle, including exiting from the emergency door.
  • Clean the interior and exterior of the vehicle, maintaining a high level of cleanliness and organization.
  • Perform other specialized functions as required by contract.

Requirements

  • Good verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with students, parents, and school personnel.
  • At least 21 years old, with a valid driver's license for at least 3 years.
  • Subject to DOT drug testing and physical, with a commitment to maintaining a drug-free workplace.
