Job Description

The Department of Population Health Sciences at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the field of Epidemiology with a focus on Biosecurity, Infection Control, and/or Infectious Disease Prevention.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct cutting-edge research in the epidemiology and control of infectious diseases.
  • Develop and maintain an independent, externally funded research program.
  • Teach graduate and professional courses in epidemiology, biosecurity and infection control, infectious disease epidemiology, and/or related topics.
  • Mentor and advise graduate students and contribute to the development of innovative teaching methods.
  • Engage in service activities at the department, college, and university levels.
  • Foster collaborations with local, regional, and national partners, including government agencies, industry, and non-profit organizations.
Requirements:
  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Epidemiology, Veterinary Epidemiology, Biosecurity/Infection Control, Biological Sciences, Public Health, or a closely related field.
  • A strong record of research accomplishments in infectious disease epidemiology, demonstrated by a history of publications in reputable journals and a successful record of securing external funding.
  • Evidence of effective teaching at the graduate and/or professional level, with a commitment to innovative pedagogical approaches.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues across disciplines and contribute to interdisciplinary research initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively convey complex epidemiological concepts to diverse audiences.
