Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Works Maintenance Worker to join our team at Haltom City. As a key member of our Public Works Department, you will be responsible for conducting a variety of maintenance functions, operating and maintaining departmental equipment and tools, and performing other related duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Repair and Maintenance: Repair, maintain, and install water mains, service lines, storm drains, valves, water meters, fire hydrants, and/or sprinklers.
  • Utility Location and Maintenance: Televises storm drains and/or locates underground utilities as assigned.
  • Grounds Maintenance: Performs mowing, removes weeds, and lays sod; trims trees and hedges.
  • Equipment Operation: Operates equipment including bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, loaders, rollers, dump trucks, and water trucks; cleans equipment and performs preventative maintenance.
  • Transportation and Logistics: Transports materials and equipment to and from jobsites; loads and unloads trailers.
  • Tool Fabrication and Welding: Fabricates tools and other types of devices; performs welding as assigned.
  • Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Requirements:
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: One year of public works maintenance experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • License: Must possess a valid Class A Texas Commercial Driver's License within 1 year of hire.
  • Incentive Pay: Incentive pay provided for candidates with a Class A Commercial Driver's License.
