The Role

We are seeking a skilled Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our project teams, you will be responsible for supporting the design-build process, implementing Clayco's Digital Practice Technology, and providing technical expertise in design analysis, pre-construction, construction, and facility handover.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide assistance to design-build teams in facilitating 3D and 2D coordination.
  • Liaise with design teams and project subcontractors through various BIM-centric activities.
  • Offer technical support for in-house applications.
  • Assist Pre-Con with quantities extraction and scheduling.
  • Coach project teams in company-wide BIM best practices.
  • Coordinate 3D content modeled by others and create new content as needed.
  • Perform 4D virtual building analysis in collaboration with scheduling, project managers, and superintendents.
  • Conduct 5D virtual building analysis with the estimating team.
  • Identify and resolve conflicts through clash detection on virtual building models.
  • Extract material quantities from building models for conceptual estimating purposes.
  • Manage model changes through design updates and as-built conditions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the AEC industry, with a focus on MEP coordination.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with VDC/BIM-related processes.
  • Strong knowledge of construction principles and practices.
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Building Design Suite (Revit, Assemble Systems, AutoCAD, Navisworks), Structionsite, DroneDeploy, and BIM 360/ACC cloud-based technology.
  • Ability to travel and relocate to job sites.
