Anticoagulation Nurse Specialist

The McDonough District Hospital is seeking an experienced Anticoagulation Nurse Specialist to join our team. This is a rewarding opportunity for a registered nurse with expertise in managing patients on anticoagulation therapy.
Job SummaryThe Anticoagulation Nurse Specialist will work collaboratively with the medical team to provide comprehensive care to patients requiring anticoagulation management. Key responsibilities include administering and monitoring warfarin (Coumadin) doses, educating patients on anticoagulation therapy, and providing ongoing monitoring of PT/INR levels. The successful candidate will have strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a patient-centered approach to care.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Current RN licensure in Illinois
- Certification in anticoagulation therapy or progression toward certification
- Minimum 2 years' experience in medical/surgical nursing
- Strong knowledge of adult teaching learning principles, lab tests (including INR and PT), anticoagulation medications, and interactions between food and medication
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities
