About the Role:

As a vital member of the surgical team, the Certified Surgical Technician plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care in a dynamic healthcare environment. You will work collaboratively with a team of skilled professionals, utilizing advanced technology to support surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review daily assignments and understand surgeon-specific preferences and anesthesia types.
  • Assess and prioritize patient care needs based on age, physiological, cultural, and physical considerations.
  • Prepare for surgical procedures by assembling and verifying sterile packs, sutures, and instruments.
  • Maintain aseptic technique and ensure safety protocols are followed in the operating room.
  • Assist in patient positioning, skin preparation, and compliance with departmental policies.
  • Monitor the sterile field throughout the procedure, addressing any breaches in technique promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with the surgical team, providing updates on the status of the procedure.
  • Ensure proper handling and disposal of biohazard materials, adhering to universal precautions.
  • Maintain accurate counts of all surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring they are returned to their designated locations post-surgery.
  • Support the surgical team by assisting with retraction and suction as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology Program or equivalent military training.
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through an accredited organization.

Work Environment:

This position requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift and move patients and equipment. The role demands adaptability and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced setting while maintaining a focus on quality patient care.
