About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst to join our Pharmacy Operations team at Mount Sinai Health System. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day support to end-users on Epic Revenue Integrity, Willow team, and Pharmacy Operations, as it relates to medication charges and billing, in compliance with departmental policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Analysis: Conduct data analysis related to pharmacy items, including charge volume, denials volume, reimbursement, error rates, and impact statements.
  • Pharmacy Dashboard Review: Review the Pharmacy Specific Dashboard for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and provide insights for improvement.
  • Audit and Compliance: Complete audits related to Pharmacy charging, denials, and reimbursement, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Project Management: Maintain up-to-date project documents for all initiatives, including technical details, user expectations, project goals, work effort, accountability, and deliverables.
  • System Monitoring: Monitor hospital Epic Pharmacy CDM files (Willow/Charge Router/WQs) in accordance with regulatory guidelines (OPPS, APG, and other reimbursement methodologies).
  • Collaboration: Work alongside the data analyst to audit the charge master for both Willow and Ambulatory, and collaborate with Pharmacy Department and Willow/Epic Ambulatory teams to ensure pricing updates are taking place quarterly.
  • Investigation and Resolution: Help investigate charge and billing issues related to pharmacy items, and work with Pharmacy Operation, HIM, PFS, Finance, and other Departments to provide knowledge and resources as it pertains to Pharmacy charging, coding, billing edits, and work queues.
  • Support and Training: Support fellow analysts as needed with work queue coverage and go-live related reviews, and work with corresponding IT teams to troubleshoot charge build issues, test, and sign off before IT moves changes into production domain.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, certification (CPhT), and experience required. Minimum 3 years' experience in inpatient/outpatient hospital pharmacy, preferred.
  • Coding Knowledge: Good understanding of CPT/HCPCS Coding knowledge preferred. Personal computer, data entry, spreadsheets, and word processing skills preferred.
  • Background: Preferable background as a pharmacy technician. Good to have knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle processes.
  • Certification: Epic certification preferred.

  • Advanced Excel: Advanced Excel skills mandatory.
  • Data Analytics Tools: Tableau, Alteryx, and other data analytics tools preferred.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and interpret results.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written, oral, instructional, presentation, and interpersonal skills focused on motivation and positive attitude.
