Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Primary Caregiver to join our team at Jefferson County Schools. As a Primary Caregiver, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to young children in our educational setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality care and supervision to children in our educational setting, ensuring their physical, emotional, and educational needs are met.
  • Develop and implement engaging and educational activities that promote children's cognitive, social, and emotional development.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, promoting a culture of respect, empathy, and open communication.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a smooth and efficient operation of the educational setting, including mealtime, naptime, and outdoor play.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of children's progress, including daily reports and incident reports.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge in child development, education, and support.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that promote the well-being and safety of children in our care.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 19 years of age.
  • One year of education, training, and/or experience in child development, teaching, counseling, social work, sociology, psychology, recreation, or programming for youth.
  • Six months of work experience with young children.
  • Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use technology to communicate, manage data, and produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information.
  • Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities.
  • Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
