Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist

Reports to: Facility Rehab Director/Regional Director

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Classification: Clinical

Supervises: CFY Therapists and Students as needed

Position Summary:

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for delivering high-quality speech, language, swallowing, cognition, or voice therapy evaluations, screenings, and treatments to meet the needs of patients. As a representative of Summit Care, the SLP embodies a commitment to quality of care in all interactions with patients, caregivers, and facility staff, adhering to all state and facility regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assure execution of doctor's orders
  • Evaluate and treat a variety of disorders, including but not limited to motor speech disorders, language disorders, voice disorders, cognitive deficits, and dysphagia
  • Develop and implement treatment plans that focus on functional and measurable outcomes and adhere to professional standards of practice
  • Oversee and participate in the maintenance of therapy records
  • Ensure availability of supplies and equipment
  • Maintain appropriate patient schedules, as per established guidelines
  • Provide documentation to maintain quality of the medical records, as it relates to reimbursement guidelines, accuracy of billing information, and facility requirements
  • Participate in patient, family, and facility meetings, as appropriate
  • Follow administrative policies and procedures, including those related to emergency procedures, infectious disease control, and safety
  • Coordinate and/or participate in training programs for facility staff, residents, families, and rehabilitation staff
  • Initiate new program development with a focus on functional outcomes to improve the quality of life of facility residents
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement
Requirements:
  • Successful completion of an accredited Speech-Language Pathology Program
  • Valid Speech-Language Pathology License to practice in appropriate state(s)
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective leadership and customer relations skills
  • Ability to exercise mature judgment with initiative in analyzing and solving problems
  • Current driver's license, vehicle insurance, and First Aid/CPR certification (for home health services)
