Position Summary: The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) plays a crucial role in delivering quality emergency medical services within the community. This position involves providing basic pre-hospital care to patients in urgent situations, ensuring a high standard of care with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and administer appropriate treatments based on established protocols in emergency scenarios.
  • Document patient evaluations, treatments administered, responses to care, and transfer of care meticulously after each incident.
  • Operate emergency vehicles safely and courteously, adhering to all motor vehicle laws and organizational driving policies.
  • Perform routine checks on vehicles and equipment to ensure readiness for service, maintaining a well-stocked and operational environment.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new staff, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and performance.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Graduation from a recognized Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Training Program.
  • Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic by the State of New Jersey.
  • Current CPR certification at the professional rescuer level, along with PHTLS or ILS and EVOC certifications.
  • A valid driver's license recognized by the State of New Jersey, with a driving record that meets insurance standards.

Additionally, candidates must complete annual training requirements as mandated by the department.
