Deputy Warden

Job Summary:

The State of Kansas is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Warden to lead the Support Services department at Lansing Correctional Facility (LCF). As a key member of the facility's leadership team, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of essential services to residents, including food service, laundry operations, library services, chaplaincy services, volunteer programs, activities, mailroom processes, and resident communication services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the contracts related to resident communication, including phones, tablets, music, and video visitation, ensuring services are working appropriately and addressing any issues quickly.
• Manage the food service contract, working closely with the LCF Food Service Director to monitor and address issues related to the contract, and serving as the liaison to the contractor for the rest of the LCF Leadership Team.
• Oversee areas providing support services to LCF, such as laundry, library, chaplaincy, and the mailroom, continuously assessing operations to identify gaps/needs and developing strategies to address them.
• Oversee volunteer and activity services available for LCF, working closely with staff and community volunteers/partners to develop and maintain an adequate level of activities, volunteer-led groups/programs, and self-help groups/programs.
• Oversee the resident Disciplinary Administrator/department to ensure compliance with regulations and appropriateness, as well as the resident grievance and property loss and personal injury claims procedures.
• Oversee the LCF Maintenance Department, including Capital Improvement Planning and the five-year plan, and maintain the LCF Camera Surveillance System.

Requirements:

• Valid driver's license.
• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in corrections, penology, criminal administration, sociology, social work, psychology, education, or public administration. Additional experience may be substituted for the required education as determined relevant by the agency.
• Pass a drug screening test approved by the Division of Personnel Services, unless the incumbent is moving from one safety-sensitive position to another safety-sensitive position within the same agency performing substantially similarly duties. May be required to pass a background check.
