About the Role

The Maintenance Technician is a critical member of the POET team, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our bioprocessing facility. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on plant equipment, including boilers, cooling towers, and other critical systems.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform repairs as needed.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential safety hazards and take corrective action to mitigate risks.
  • Operate and maintain water filtration equipment, including testing and adjusting water chemistry as needed.
  • Use Maximo to coordinate and order materials for maintenance projects and document all tasks and spare part inventory.
  • Work with the management team to solve problems and address unsafe conditions.
  • Train new team members in maintenance procedures and ensure a smooth transition of knowledge and skills.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments and stakeholders to ensure seamless operation of the facility.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent secondary education and/or certifications preferred.
  • Documented successful performance as a Maintenance Technician I or equivalent work experience required.
  • Experience with fabrication, welding, cutting, and repair of equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, airlocks, fans/blowers, agitator assemblies, and valves.
  • Knowledge of boiler operations and water chemistry, material handling systems, and preventative maintenance practices.
  • Ability to read schematic drawings and understand technical and day-to-day operation of a bioprocessing facility.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
