Project Engineer Job Description

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our Traffic Engineering team in Hamilton, NJ. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, from design and traffic operations to infrastructure development and maintenance.

Responsibilities:
  • Apply your knowledge of traffic engineering principles and practices to develop designs, reports, and presentation materials.
  • Evaluate and select engineering techniques and principles to develop solutions for project success.
  • Research design options and apply code provisions and standards.
  • Interpret drawings and submit concept designs for approval.
  • Design complete projects, working with senior engineers and planners, to create solutions that meet or exceed client needs.
  • Perform engineering calculations and create estimates.
  • Verify design methodology, calculations, and outcomes.
  • Meet schedule, budget, and quality goals set by project managers.
  • Attend meetings and present specific components of assignments.
  • Assist with proposal development for professional services.
  • Provide direction to engineers and technicians.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, supervisors, clients, and colleagues.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in transportation/traffic/highway design.
  • P.E. license in New Jersey or ability to obtain.
  • Prior experience with NJDOT or local projects is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO, MUTCD, and other transportation publications.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bently MicroStation, or other transportation-related software packages.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Possess a strong work ethic, good communication skills, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for job-related communications and verbal instructions.
