Instrumentation Specialist

Key Responsibilities:- Install, repair, maintain, adjust, and program precision recording, regulating, and control instruments in the plant.
- Work on electrical, air, steam, pressure, and temperature controllers, regulators, and gauges, as well as mechanical devices used for measurement, process control, and test purposes.
- Test, clean, adjust, and calibrate instruments and small gauges to meet established standards.
- Make repairs to gauges and instrumentation, including the replacement of controllers and component parts.
- Responsible for the calibration of instrumentation and record keeping associated with all instrumentation tasks.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting and repairs related to instrumentation inputs and outputs, such as sensors, solenoids, auxiliary relays, drives, and motors.
- Interpret complex technical diagrams, printed matter, sketches, programs, and exercise ingenuity to solve problems and adjust precision linkages.
- Install or remove control apparatus.
- Prepare and maintain historical data and electronic tracking on each piece of apparatus scheduled for follow-up.
- Work with engineering to create new or edit existing procedures and controlled documents.
- Collaborate with operators and supervisors regarding planning and scheduling equipment availability.
- Contact outside vendors for questions on installation and maintenance of new equipment.
- Submit required reports to the supervisor.
- Extensive education and experience in electrical trade and instrumentation.
- High degree of knowledge of measurements/calibration for flow, pressure, temperature control, and repairs of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
- Requires electrical or mechanical background with courses in algebra, trigonometry, and physics.
- PC proficiency to include database applications (e.g., Gage Trol) and MS office applications (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, Access) and Oracle.
- Dust, dirt, noise, may have exposure to weather (depending on assignment).
