About the Role:
VanDeMark Chemical, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) professional to join our team. As an EHS Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining and improving process safety and environmental programs at our facility.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and Implement Regulatory Compliance and Process Safety Goals: Develop and implement regulatory compliance and process safety goals and objectives to ensure the company's adherence to relevant local, federal, and global regulations.
- Ensure Environmental Compliance: Ensure environmental compliance and maintain policies and procedures aligned with regulatory standards.
- Evaluate and Ensure Company Compliance: Evaluate and ensure company compliance with global, federal, state, and local regulations, including Environmental/OSHA/RMP/REACH/DOT.
- Prepare and Submit Environmental Reports: Prepare and submit all required environmental reports.
- Monitor and Stay Updated on Changes in Environmental Legislation: Monitor and stay updated on changes in environmental legislation and advise management and update policies accordingly.
- Conduct and Ensure Environmental and Process Safety Training: Conduct and ensure all employees receive environmental and process safety training.
- Act as a Liaison with the Community and Regulatory Agencies: Act as a liaison with the community and regulatory agencies on environmental and compliance matters.
- Lead Environmental Permitting Improvement and Remediation Projects: Lead environmental permitting improvement and remediation projects.
- Complete and Submit Departmental Reports: Complete and submit periodic departmental reports.
- Support the Company's Responsible Care Program Goals: Support the company's Responsible Care program goals and objectives.
- Ensure Proper Labeling of Company Products: Ensure proper labeling of company products and maintain product safety documentation.
- Manage the Process Safety Program: Manage the Process Safety Program, including Process Hazard Analysis.
- Oversee TSCA Notifications and Verifications: Oversee TSCA (Toxic Substances Control Act) notifications and verifications.
- Ensure Pesticide Registrations are Current and Up to Date: Ensure pesticide registrations are current and up to date.
- Generate and Implement Cost-Saving Ideas: Generate and implement cost-saving ideas within the scope of responsibility.
- Assist in the Creation and Maintenance of Safety Data Sheets: Assist in the creation and maintenance of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Support New Product and Process Development Initiatives: Support new product and process development initiatives.
- Contribute to and Support Sitewide Safety Programs: Contribute to and support sitewide safety programs and other departmental objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety, Chemical Engineering, or a Related Field: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 Years of Experience in EHS or a Similar Role: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in EHS or a similar role, preferably in a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Strong Knowledge of Regulatory Requirements: Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, including OSHA, EPA, RMP, REACH, DOT, and TSCA.
- Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) and Hazard Analysis (PHA): Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) and Hazard Analysis (PHA).
- Excellent Communication and Training Skills: Excellent communication and training skills.
- Ability to Work Independently and Collaboratively: Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Strong Attention to Detail and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in Project Management and Process Improvement: Experience in project management and process improvement is a plus.
