This position is part of our comprehensive management services team that handles intricate projects and extensive capital programs. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the performance of Field Construction Supervisors for the development of electric substations, transmission lines, and generation enhancements.
  • Assess contract resource needs, service specifications, and oversee contractor performance.
  • Coordinate field inspection activities and ensure sign-offs for construction projects.
  • Monitor outsourced construction firms to guarantee compliance with safety, quality, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
  • Review and evaluate contracts and agreements impacting project execution and operational functions, providing recommendations as necessary.
  • Collaborate with management to address issues and synchronize activities with field construction supervisors.
  • Ensure integration of construction management into planning, scheduling, cost tracking, installation, and testing phases.
  • Facilitate the procurement of construction materials and manage material handling plans.
  • Align construction schedules for transmission substations and lines with other functional areas within the organization.
  • Provide feedback on constructability concerning electrical, mechanical, protection, and civil construction standards.
  • Research and implement necessary changes to align with organizational standards and objectives.
  • Work with other business units, contractors, and subject matter experts to resolve conflicts and prioritize business needs.
  • Engage in the ongoing budget process to provide input on items, manpower, and construction budget control.
  • Participate in negotiations and joint planning efforts for transmission facilities construction projects with other utilities.
  • Lead and coordinate activities to address substation and transmission system emergencies as required.
  • Identify construction risks during planning, execution, and construction phases, preparing risk mitigation strategies.

Safety Responsibilities:

Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure contractors adhere to all safety policies and procedures to promote a secure working environment at construction sites. Properly utilize and maintain safety gear and equipment, and promptly report unsafe conditions to contractors and project managers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
  • At least ten years of progressive experience in the electric utility industry, with a preference for substation construction management experience.
  • Five years of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Project or equivalent software.
  • A valid Driver's License is required.
  • Willingness to travel to construction sites regularly and attend meetings.

Competencies:

  • Knowledge of construction safety, environmental, quality, and security regulations.
  • Familiarity with organizational, national, and international standards.
  • Ability to document observations, incidents, and required actions thoroughly.
  • Process-oriented and self-motivated with a keen attention to detail.

  • Proven project management skills and ability to motivate teams.
